Sports fishing is one of the activities in Lake Mburo National Park but only at Mazinga Swamp. The area has over six types of fish, including lungfish, catfish, tilapia, and tigerfish.
The park is open to all visitors who want to try sports fishing. However, this activity requires a paid permit from Uganda Wildlife Authority. The park does not provide fishing equipment, so you need to bring your own.
From Mazinga Swamp, you can also see the nearby Rubanga Forest. This forest has thick green trees and many wild animals, including birds.
There is also Lake Kigambira, which shows travelers the natural beauty of the area. The lake supports both water animals and plant-eating animals.
After a day of exploring Mazinga Swamp, you can rest at nearby lodges. There are options for luxury, midrange, and budget stays. Some of these include Hyena Hill Lodge, Mihingo Luxury Safari Lodge, Kigambira Safari Lodge, Rwakobo Rock, Arcadia Cottages, Kimbla-Mantana Tented Camp, Leopard Rest Camp, Eagle’s Nest Lodge, and Mburo Safari Lodge.
To enter the park, you must pay a fee to Uganda Wildlife Authority, the government body in charge of tourism. Foreign residents pay 30 USD per person, while non-resident foreigners pay 40 USD per person.
Adult Ugandans pay 20,000 Ugandan shillings, and children pay 5,000 shillings. Non-resident foreign children pay 20 USD, and foreign resident children pay 10 USD.
Prices can change depending on the season, so always check the Uganda Wildlife Authority website before your visit.
Besides visiting Mazinga Swamp, you can also enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. This cruise lets you see many wild animals from the water.
The cost is 30,000 Ugandan shillings for Ugandan citizens and 30 USD per person for all foreign visitors. The fee is paid at the park gate, where you will get a permit as proof of payment.
