The gates of Rwakobo Rock Lodge are always open to welcome visitors who want relaxation, adventure, and comfort. This quiet retreat is located on a rocky hill at the edge of Lake Mburo National Park. It has spacious cottages built around the hill, each offering a nice view of the sunset.
At night, the sounds of the bush come alive around the campfire, which is lit by the lodge staff to create a friendly and calm atmosphere. Guests can hear the sounds of crickets and other animals in the area. You can explore the park by vehicle, on foot, or by bike. Some activities are done in the morning and others in the evening so visitors can enjoy the changes in nature at different times of day.
The lodge is called “Rwakobo Rock” because it sits on a rocky hill. It is also known as an eco-friendly place because of how carefully it is maintained. The newly built Hornbill House adds more comfort and fun, with five self-contained rooms that each have a private veranda facing the bush. Each room also has a bathroom inside with simple but useful amenities.
At the dining area, zebras, impalas, and bushbucks sometimes come to the nearby waterhole to drink. Guests can watch these animals while enjoying a cold drink. Unlike lodges near Sanga Gate, Rwakobo Rock Lodge is one kilometer from Nshara Gate. The road to the lodge goes through the Nshara government ranch, where you may see the long-horned Ankole cattle grazing near other wild animals in the park.
The Bahima people live in this area and still care for their cattle and follow their traditions. Visitors often take part in their daily work like milking and feeding the cows, which makes for a special experience.
The lodge is about eight kilometers from the main road between Masaka and Mbarara towns. It is easy to reach from Kampala, with a drive of about three to three and a half hours, making the trip easier than going to parks that are much farther away.
There is something for everyone at Rwakobo Rock Lodge in Lake Mburo National Park.
