About five hundred years ago, the Precambrian granite rocks around the hill were formed. These rocks later inspired a family with a love for nature to build Mihingo Lodge. Today, it stands strong, with unique rooms designed to blend with the quiet surroundings of Lake Mburo National Park. Guests enjoy the comfort and luxury that the lodge offers.
One of the best parts of staying at Mihingo Lodge is the connection to nature. Each room has a private balcony that looks out to the lake, where you can see green trees, birds, and animals. There is also an infinity swimming pool with views of the bush. From the pool, you can sometimes see buffaloes, warthogs, elands, and zebras coming to drink water.
Even though the lodge sits on a rocky hill, seeing a leopard from your room is not guaranteed. To see one, you should join a night game drive. These drives are done with armed guides for your safety. Many guests have seen more leopards in Lake Mburo than in other parks in Uganda. Leopards hunt at night when other animals are resting, which makes them easier to spot during night drives.
A family of klipspringers also lives on the rocks near the lodge. These small antelopes are often seen in the morning or evening, making it a calm time to reflect and enjoy the view. Mihingo Lodge is one of the few places in Uganda where visitors can enjoy both day and night game drives. These drives are led by guides, and with some luck, you might see a leopard.
The dining and lounge area is built high on the rock, creating a great place for guests to meet and share stories. From here, you can watch animals below as you enjoy your meals. Meals are prepared by Sarah and her team, using herbs and ingredients from the lodge’s own garden. The food is a mix of simple dishes from different cultures.
