Kigambira Safari Lodge – Eco Safari Lodge in Lake Mburo National Park

Kigambira Safari Lodge - Eco Safari Lodge in Lake Mburo National Park

Your trip to Uganda will feel special if you stay at Kigambira Safari Lodge, a peaceful place in the southern part of Lake Mburo National Park. This eco-lodge is about 36 kilometers from the main Kampala-Mbarara highway, located between Lake Kigambira and Rubanga Forest. It is a great stopover for tourists going to or coming from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The lodge was named after the nearby Lake Kigambira.

The Banyankole people live in this area. Visitors can see their way of life and traditional homes called Ebihangaro, which are cattle enclosures. The Banyankole are known for keeping the long-horned Ankole cows.

These cows have been raised here for over 2,000 years and are a symbol of pride, strength, and wealth. For more than 500 years, they have supported families and shaped traditions. Even today, cattle are still very important in this region.

Lake Mburo is a good place for bird lovers, with over 350 bird species, including the rare Shoebill, Red-faced Barbet, and African Finfoot. These birds live in the park’s wetlands, lake shores, and open areas.

After checking in at Kigambira Safari Lodge, you can enjoy several activities. One of them is the bush breakfast, which is served at any location in the park you prefer. It is prepared by trained staff and gives you a nice outdoor experience.

You can also join a morning boat trip on Lake Mburo. These boat rides last a few hours and let you see animals like zebras and impalas that often gather near the lake when water is scarce.

A guided nature walk is another good activity. It takes you through many areas of the park where the guide helps you spot animal tracks, especially those of antelopes, in wooded areas. You can also enjoy horseback riding, game drives, or cycling inside the park.

Enjoy a quiet and memorable stay at Kigambira Safari Lodge in Lake Mburo National Park.
