Sport Fishing in Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda

Many tourists visit Lake Mburo to enjoy sport fishing. This activity is supervised by park officials to protect both the fish and the visitors. Note that fishing gear is not provided, so each tourist must bring their own equipment. You also need a permit from the Uganda Wildlife Authority to take part in sport fishing.

Lake Mburo is the smallest Savannah lake, but it is part of a group of 12 lakes in the park area. Lake Mburo is the largest among them. Visitors can prepare for fishing trips with help from their tour operator or lodge staff, who may also offer lessons on fishing. You can fish in Lake Mburo any time of year, but it is best during the dry season. The dry months are June, July, August, September, December, January, and February.
