Zebra Track in Lake Mburo - Game Drives, Nature Walks & Photo Tips

The Zebra Track is a path in Lake Mburo National Park where you can see many zebras. The best way to watch these animals is by joining a game drive, which takes you through the whole park. During the drive, you can take photos or videos of the zebras as they walk in the open plains. Besides zebras, you may also see buffaloes, topis, bushbucks, side-striped jackals, and warthogs feeding on the grass. This is a good moment to capture with your camera.

Before taking part in filming or photography, make sure to get a permit from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. This permit is followed by a media card. To make your visit easier, you can ask your tour operator to help with these steps.

A nature walk is another way to see the zebras. This activity involves walking through the park with a trained guide who knows how to find different animals. During the walk, you may find zebras near waterholes or in the open grasslands.

Zebras are herbivores. They mostly eat fresh grass, plants, leaves, shrubs, and sometimes twigs. They move around the park looking for fresh vegetation. Zebras live in small groups made up mostly of females, and each group is led by one male. When female zebras give birth, their young ones stay with them until the age of three. After that, the young males leave to join a bachelor group made up of other males.

Zebras, with their black and white stripes, can only be found in Lake Mburo and Kidepo Valley National Parks. Since many zebras live in Lake Mburo, most visitors choose to visit it first before going to Kidepo.

The best time to see large numbers of zebras is during the dry season. This is when they gather near water sources, as many waterholes dry up. You can also visit during the wet season, when the grass is fresh and green. This helps photographers take good pictures of the animals. If taking pictures during the wet season, make sure to turn on your flash carefully so you do not scare other animals nearby.

Prices are usually lower during the wet season because fewer people visit. However, visiting in the wet season is not always easy. Many areas become muddy and hard to reach, including Zebra Track.
