Filming in Lake Mburo National Park - Permits, Tips & Locations

Filming in Lake Mburo is done with respect for nature. When you visit, make sure to leave the area as you found it. Avoid disturbing the animals by keeping your distance, as many of them are sensitive. Always stay on the marked paths and trails to reduce your impact on the environment.

To film in the park, you need to get a filming permit from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. You will also need a media card from the Uganda Media Council. If you bring filming equipment into the country, you must clear it temporarily with customs. Your tour company can help you arrange these permits and cards, so it is best to work with a good company for smooth processing.

Lake Mburo National Park is a great place for filming. It offers many interesting features such as landscapes, wildlife, and calm waters. The best time to film is during the dry season when game drives are easy. The wet season makes the paths slippery, but the park is open all year. You will find more than 350 bird species, zebras, giraffes, impalas, hippos, hyenas, and bushbucks, among others.

The park has an equatorial climate, and its green vegetation covers much of the area. This will add natural color to your story. You can also film the lodges where you stay. The lodges range from budget to luxury and are found both inside and outside the park. Some of the lodges are Leopard Rest Camp, Eagles Nest Lake Mburo, Rwonyo Rest Camp, Montana Tented Camp, Lake Mburo Safari Lodge, and Mihingo Luxury Lodge.

You can reach the park by road or air, depending on your budget and choice. Many tourists prefer road travel because it allows them to stop and capture moments along the way. Air travel is faster but does not allow for stops or good views of the land. The airstrip in Mbarara is about 45 minutes from the park, while driving takes around three to four hours.
