Best Time to Visit Lake Mburo – You can reach Lake Mburo National Park through different gates, and the park is open all year to welcome visitors. There are two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season.
The dry season is more popular despite higher fees because the dry land allows many activities such as horseback riding, game drives, nature walks, stargazing, and camping.
The dry season has little or no rain. You should bring a water bottle to stay hydrated in the hot weather, sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun, binoculars to see animals far away, a camera with extra batteries to capture special moments, and insect repellent to keep mosquitoes away.
Mosquitoes are often attracted to bright colors, so wearing earth-colored clothes is best. The dry months run from January to June and include August.
At the start of these months, the grass dries up, making it easier to spot animals hiding in the grass. You will also be able to reach many parts of the park, but be careful of dusty grounds and consider carrying a mask.
During the dry season, most animals gather near water holes because other water sources dry up. This creates exciting chances to see animals drinking and predators hunting nearby.
You can watch these scenes safely from your lodge if it is near a water hole, like some lodges in Lake Mburo.
The wet season is more difficult for visitors. It brings muddy roads that can block some routes and poor visibility due to mist. The wet months are November, December, and March to May.
During this time, animals spread out across the park because food and water are easy to find. This can make it harder for rangers and visitors to find them.
If you prefer visiting during the wet season, our staff will be ready to welcome and help you plan an amazing trip.
