Mpogo Safari Lodge - Cultural Safari Stay Near Lake Mburo

Experience cultural tourism at Mpogo Safari Lodge, located on a hill just outside Lake Mburo National Park. The lodge was originally a farmhouse, and the owners often saw zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, and hyenas passing nearby. This inspired them to start Mpogo Safari Lodge, which has since won an award for good service and traditional buildings like a kitchen, huts, and camping grounds.

At a midrange price, guests can enjoy a 16-room facility with king-size beds in single, double, and twin options. The rooms are affordable and offer good views of the wildlife in Lake Mburo National Park. Two of the rooms are private, grass-thatched cottages with indoor showers and clean toilets. From the top of the hill, guests get a clear view of the park.

The lodge is named after the Mpogo cow, a traditional long-horned cow that was seen as a sign of good luck by the Chwezi people, the founders of the Ankole kingdom in Uganda. To keep this history alive, Mpogo Lodge still has one of the last remaining Mpogo cows. Guests can see this cow, which is rare in modern homes.

Mpogo Safari Lodge offers a peaceful stay in nature. Guests can eat their meals with views of nearby wildlife, including birds. The lodge also gives guests a chance to take part in several activities. These include day and night game drives led by trained park guides. Game drives are done in safari vehicles that have cold drinks and Wi-Fi.

Guests can also enjoy a boat cruise where you may see crocodiles, hippos, and water birds. For those interested in culture, nearby villages can be visited to see traditional music and dances.

Mpogo Safari Lodge gives visitors a mix of simple modern comfort and cultural experience during their visit to Uganda.
