Lake Mburo Impala Track - See Zebras, Birds & Impalas on Safari

Lake Mburo is well known for its shining impalas, mostly found in the impala track area where they live alongside zebras.

Impalas feed on grass, leaves, and fruits. Scientists have observed that they usually drink water once a day, which helps them live up to 15 years.

You can easily tell males and females apart by their looks. Males have lyre-shaped horns, while females do not have any horns. Female impalas live in groups and only join males during the mating season.

Their young have a reddish-brown coat that stays until they grow up. They also have white rings around their eyes and a light-colored chin.

Male impalas stand about 75 to 92 cm tall at the shoulder and weigh between 53 and 76 kg. Females are a little smaller, about 70 to 85 cm tall and weigh between 40 and 53 kg.

Female impalas have a digestion period of about seven months. The impala track is a great place for fans of these animals because many come here to feed on the rich grasslands.

Photographers often visit to take pictures, but you need a permit and a media card to film inside the park.

Although Lake Mburo is one of the smaller savannah parks, it has areas of papyrus swamps, green woodlands, and a healthy mix of plants and animals.

Many bird species live here or fly over the park. Some of the common birds include the mosque swallow, black-bellied bustard, bare-faced go-away bird, Ruppell’s starling, southern ground hornbill, and black-throated barbet.

Before your visit, make sure to bring your medical documents in case you get sick. It is also smart to get travel insurance to cover unexpected problems like illness or accidents.

A first aid kit is important, especially if you plan to go into the jungle, and you should know how to use it.

Dress in earth-colored clothes that match the season. These colors attract fewer insects and help you stay comfortable.
