Look beyond the skies from the Kigarama Hills, where lakeside views help calm a tired mind and make every moment feel special. Before you start the long walk, there is a short briefing to make sure you stay close to your guide. The Savannah areas can be risky without an armed ranger who is trained to keep you safe.
The Lakeside Track takes you through areas where you can see wild animals and the landscapes around the lakes. During the walk, you can also take part in other organized activities, such as game drives, nature walks, bird watching, sundowners, and the unique horse riding experience that has made the park well known and attracts visitors from many places.
Lake Mburo has many natural features designed to suit different types of visitors. It offers good options for honeymooners, holiday travelers, and people doing environmental research. Along the lakeside track, you can see over 14 lakes, nearby hills, and green vegetation filled with zebras, impalas, topis, hyenas, and many birds.
Game drives make it easier to tour the park. These drives are done in shifts. The first shift starts at 6:30 a.m. to catch animals as they begin their day looking for food. Morning temperatures are cooler, which makes the trip more enjoyable. The second shift is warmer, but most safari vehicles have mini refrigerators with cold drinks to help you stay refreshed.
An experienced driver will guide you to good spots to see animals. A day game drive takes about four hours. Night game drives begin at 7:00 p.m. and last about two to three hours. They are shorter to make sure visitors stay safe in the dark and have enough time to rest later. During the night drive, an armed ranger joins the group because some animals are more active at night. The ranger does not harm the animals but may fire in the air to scare them if needed.
