Watch the sky change colors around Lake Kigambira, from burnt red and orange to deep blue. This lake is home to many plants and water animals. It is close to other lakes like Lake Mburo, Lake Kibigwa, Lake Nakivale, and Lake Victoria, which is the largest in the area.
Nearby are also Lake Edward, Lake Albert, and Lake George, known for their beach tours, boat rides, and bird watching. Lake Kigambira is called a natural hub because it is surrounded by papyrus and woodland plants.
It is one of fifteen lakes in a wetland system that stretches about 50 kilometers, linked by swamps. The golden water sits in the Bakijurara area, just 6.8 kilometers from Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda.
Enjoy guided nature walks around the lake where you can learn about many birds and animals. Rangers lead the walks carrying guns, not to shoot, but to scare away any dangerous animals if needed.
You can also take a boat cruise on the calm waters of Lake Kigambira. Here, you may see African fish eagles, kingfishers, pink-backed pelicans, crocodiles, and hippos.
Make sure to bring extra batteries or fully charge your camera, and keep your things safe since accidents could happen near the water.
After a day of exploring, rest at Kigambira Safari Lodge. The lodge sits between the lake and the green Rubanga Forest. It has 12 rooms designed with simple, elegant style.
The grass-thatched bandas have clean air, spacious rooms, and floors made of mahogany wood. Comfortable sofas help you relax and get a good night’s sleep if you do not want to rest on the king-size beds.
Each room has a fan above the bed to keep you cool when it gets warm. If the fan is not enough, you can swim in the infinity pool right in front of your room while enjoying a cool drink.
You can also eat on your private balcony as you watch the sunset.
Open your eyes to the peaceful beauty of nature around Lake Kigambira in Lake Mburo.
