Kazuma Hill Hikes & Scenic Views in Lake Mburo National Park

Kazuma Hill Hikes & Scenic Views in Lake Mburo National Park

Enjoy the view of the blue lakes in Lake Mburo National Park from Kazuma Hill in western Uganda, located between Masaka and Mbarara districts. On your way to the top, you will pass rocky hills where pairs of klipspringers are often seen.

You may also spot the newly introduced giraffes grazing peacefully in the surrounding vegetation. At the peak, you will be amazed by the views of Lake Mburo and seven other lakes, all surrounded by colorful birds and plants.

In Kiruhura District, Kazuma is a popular raised platform where hikers enjoy exploring the natural beauty of the area. The slope is known for hosting many wild animals. As you look north, you will see Rwonyo Park Headquarters, where most wildlife research is done. From here, with sharp eyes, you can spot zebras, impalas, topis, buffaloes, and oribis.

Kazuma Lookout is close to Kazuma Track, where many hiking trips begin to explore the land of a thousand hills. When visiting, remember to bring insect repellent because Africa has many biting insects that can cause painful bites or spread disease. Avoid wearing bright-colored clothes, as they attract insects. Carry snacks and water to keep your energy up during the hike.

If walking is difficult for you, the park offers many other activities. These include horseback riding, cycling, game drives, boat cruises, camping, cultural visits, and more, all designed to make your stay enjoyable and memorable.

Kazuma also offers camping for visitors who want to spend more time on the hills. It is safe, so there is no need to worry about security. You can also enjoy sightseeing, where you will see four beautiful lakes in the southern part of the park, mountain plants, and interesting rock formations. The birds add to the experience with their lovely songs from morning till evening.
