The Zebra Track Gate in Lake Mburo National Park

The Zebra Track Gate in Lake Mburo National Park

Are you a great fan of zebras? The Zebra Track gate is your gateway to see these beautiful animals marked with black and white stripes. The best time to visit the Zebra Track is during the dry season, which runs from June to September and in December.

During this time, the roads are dry, making it easy to enjoy activities like nature walks. Zebras gather near waterholes or areas with plenty of plants, so they are easier to spot. The wet season, from March to May and October to November, is also good for tracking zebra footprints.

This gate leads you on a rough road to the open plains of Lake Mburo National Park. Here, you will see many wild animals besides zebras, such as warthogs, buffaloes, topis, leopards, bushbucks, jackals, and birds like Meyer’s parrots and barbets.

Zebras can also be found in Kidepo National Park, but most tourists prefer Lake Mburo because it has a higher number of zebras and is closer to the capital city, Kampala, making the trip easier.

The best way to see zebras is by nature walk, where you explore the park on foot, or by game drive, where you ride in a safari vehicle with an experienced guide.

These activities are done in the morning, evening, or at night.

The night game drives give you a chance to see the stars and also find nocturnal animals that are hard to see during the day. The drives do not take the whole day, so there is always time to rest.

There are many places to stay in and around the park to suit all budgets. These range from simple to midrange to luxury lodges, all with good services like free parking with security, free WiFi, room service, and more.

Salt licks are other great places to see zebras, or you might find them near Lake Mburo when they come to drink water. But be careful, as crocodiles live in the lake.

Filming this food chain can be exciting, but always respect others’ privacy and use your camera properly.
