Salt Lick Wildlife Viewing in Lake Mburo National Park

Salt Lick Wildlife Viewing in Lake Mburo National Park

Salt lick is a water point in Lake Mburo where many animals come to lick the salty soil. To avoid frightening these sensitive animals, the Uganda Wildlife Authority has built a raised platform hidden in the bushes. This platform gives visitors a good view while keeping the animals comfortable.

A nature walk often includes a visit to the salt lick and lasts about one to two hours. During this time, you can watch how different animals go about their daily activities while coming to lick the salt.

Some of these animals are very sensitive, so loud noise is not allowed to help them stay calm. Animals you may see include zebras, impalas, buffalo herds, birds, and bushbucks.

It is important to keep a safe distance and not feed the animals. Leaving food behind can harm them or make them lazy, stopping them from finding their own food.

The Salt Lick, located in the southwestern part of the park, is one of the best places to see many animals without disturbing them. You can visit this area during game drives or on horseback, but it is important to keep both the horse and vehicle calm so you do not scare the animals away.

Other activities you can enjoy include a boat safari. The boats have covered seats for comfort, and the trip lasts about two hours. You will see many birds like fish eagles, pelicans, and shoebills.

In the water, you may spot hippos and crocodiles guarding their territory from buffaloes or antelopes. Everyone taking the boat ride must wear a life jacket, which comes in all sizes to fit adults and children.

This makes the experience safe and memorable.

Salt lick is a must-see activity in Lake Mburo. Please do not miss it.
