Rwonyo Gate Access to Lake Mburo - Entry, Activities & Packing Tips

Rwonyo Gate is home to the well-known Rwonyo Camp, located inside Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda. This region is known for its fast-growing economy.

Rwonyo Gate is an important entry point for visitors who want to explore different habitats filled with many herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.

From this gate, you can start a nature walk or a boat tour, both led by a tour guide. Before you begin, you will be briefed on what to do and what to avoid.

Loud noise is not allowed because it scares sensitive animals and disrupts their daily routines.

Feeding animals is also forbidden because it can make them lazy and harm their survival. Do not throw trash in the park.

There are dustbins at the campsites or your accommodation where you should dispose of waste safely. If animals eat garbage, it can cause sickness or death.

The gate is easy to reach by road. Compared to other gates in Lake Mburo, the travel fee from Kampala is lower. Since the park is in a rural area with few shops, make sure to bring all the things you need for your trip.

Some recommended items include a first aid kit with scissors, bandages, spirit, cotton wool, and painkillers.

Also bring garden gloves, safari boots, a raincoat in case of rain, long-sleeved earth-colored clothes to keep insects away, snacks, water, and insect repellent.
