If you plan to explore the thousand hills of Lake Mburo at Kazuma, it is best to pack light, earth-colored clothes that are comfortable and do not attract insects. Be sure to bring insect repellent to protect your skin from stings. Also, carry a waterproof raincoat and boots if you visit during the rainy season, as it can rain at any time.
Kazuma Track is in the northern part of the park near Rwonyo headquarters. The area is home to many wild animals such as zebras, impalas, buffaloes, waterbucks, and antelopes. The open savannah grasslands here support many animals. Because of this, park officials reintroduced giraffes to this area, making it a center for wildlife research.
From the top of Kazuma Hill, you can see the nearby lakes. If you are patient, you may also enjoy a beautiful sunset. Many lodges near the track have private balconies where guests can watch the sunset in comfort.
The track leads you through the wide plains and to raised places like Kazuma Hill. From there, you may spot shy animals hiding on the slopes and in the southern part of the park.
There are many activities to enjoy in this area. One popular activity is camping. You can spend a night or more in tents on the field. Campfires keep you warm, and some people roast fish caught during the day or cook meat while enjoying refreshing drinks. Always stay with a tour guide, especially at night, because wild animals may come close. If an animal approaches, do not panic and wait for the guide’s instructions.
Many tourists also enjoy nature walks on Kazuma Track. Walking quietly behind animals without being noticed gives visitors a special experience of sharing the land with wildlife.
