This 7-day Uganda safari is perfect for visitors who want to explore the best of Uganda in just one week. You will see gorillas in Bwindi Forest, chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, and wildlife in Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo National Parks. The tour begins and ends in Entebbe or Kampala.
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda
When you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, your safari driver will meet you and take you to your hotel in Kampala. You can relax and prepare for your safari adventure.
Day 2: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, leave Kampala and drive to Kibale Forest in western Uganda. On the way, stop in Fort Portal for lunch. This town is known for its tea plantations and views of the Rwenzori Mountains. Arrive at your lodge near the forest, check in, and have dinner.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Visit Bigodi Wetland
After breakfast, go to the park office for a briefing. Then, enter the forest with a guide to look for chimpanzees. You may also see other monkeys and many birds. When you find the chimps, you’ll spend one hour watching them.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then go for a guided walk in Bigodi Wetland. You will see birds, monkeys, and learn about local village life, farming, and community work.
Day 4: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, leave Kibale and travel to Bwindi Forest, home to nearly half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Enjoy the changing scenery along the way. Arrive in the evening and relax at your lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
This is a special day. After breakfast, go to the park office for a short briefing. You’ll be grouped with others (8 people per group) and assigned a gorilla family.
Your guide will lead you into the forest. The trek may take 1 to 6 hours. Once you find the gorillas, you’ll have one hour to watch them closely.
Remember to bring your passport, gorilla permit, and wear strong boots, long clothes, gloves, and a rain jacket. Also, bring water, snacks, and a camera in a backpack.
Day 6: Drive to Lake Mburo & Boat Cruise
After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Have lunch at the lodge, then go on a boat ride on the lake to see hippos, birds, and other animals.
After an early dinner, go on a night game drive. You may see leopards, hyenas, bush babies, and other night animals. The drive takes 2 to 3 hours.
Day 7: Nature Walk & Return to Entebbe
Start your day with an early morning nature walk with an armed ranger. Walking in the park lets you see small animals and details you miss in a car.
Return to the lodge for lunch and then drive back to Entebbe. You will be dropped at the airport or your hotel.
